  3. Select General (earlier version of MSN Messenger) or Sign In (current latest version of MSN Messenger) on the left pane.
  4. Select or tick the Automatically run Windows Live Messenger when I log on to Windows check box. Disable Windows Live Messenger Auto Start
  5. Click OK.

Now the Windows Live Messenger will not start itself automatically from next system boot up and you can start the program manually from Start Menu. You can disable Windows live Messenger auto start.
